The Pirate John Mucknell
Diving on Scilly
Todd Stevens
Shipwreck Poems

In 1644, pirate Captain John Mucknell stole a brand new forty four gun ship called the John, and took to piracy with it on the high seas during the English Civil War. Under the flag of Charles I, Mucknell then inflicted terror upon merchant shipping around the Isles of Scilly and the western approaches, that lasted for nearly 8 years. The author delves into this facinating pirate and what remains of his first ship on the sea bed at Scilly.

The Pirate John Mucknell is the third title in a series of shipwreck tales written by this same author. The foreword is written by TV presenter and diver Miranda Krestovnikov who wrote:

Having read Todd’s other 2 books, I was excited to be one of the first to read the third. It’s a gripping story of a real-life pirate, told in Todd’s unique style which brings the characters completely to life. It’s painstakingly researched and very readable. I just want to dive the wreck, now!
